六和塔 Six Harmonies Pagoda Grounds

Liùhé Tǎ (Six Harmonies Pagoda) Grounds

North of the Pagoda there’s a maze of paths that wander up into the hills. On the paths, and sometimes off, there are a few dozen miniature recreations of ancient pagodas. Semi-abstract and semi-fantastical, I had a really great time getting fresh air and hunting for architectural whimsy. (I hope this isn’t starting to sound like a tourism blog…)

I saw these strange structures first from the pagoda (top left photo) and then encountered them wandering around the grounds. I don’t know enough about infrastructures to figure out what they are. There are no buildings nearby, they’re not on the top of a hill and I couldn’t see any evidence of them being connected to a network. I’m sure what they are is very obvious to someone but, in the meantime, they’re kind of amazing.
